TRAINING CONTRACT OPPORTUNITIES

hi

I m looking for a mainly a TC or paralegal work with a view to a TC in east anglia. I live in between kings lynn, bury st edmunds, and norwich and dont mind travelling. However all the TC's I find on the internet are for large firms which I know I dont have the grades to be considered for the job. Any advice to where I should be looking for small high street firms would be highly appreciated

Hi Cassie

Have you looked at lawcareers.net? You can specify location and look for a TC that way. You also need to be tenacious and cold call - ie go through your local Yellow Pages and write on spec, for every 50 you write to, you may get 4 or 5 responses!! ( but all it needs is 1 interview). You could also check on the Law Society website, specifying a search for local firms with training status.

If you are not able to widen you search and move, then you will be restricted, that said, determination and persistance in the quantity of applications may pay off.

Its on page 60 of the Gazette.

It just says "Trainee Solicitor / Paralegal required by Birmingham Childcare practice. Prefer candidate with relevant experience and good IT skills. Apply with CV to bwalker@osbornesolicitors.co.uk, or to Osborne & Co, 316-320 Gazette Buildings, 168 Corporation Street, Birmingham B4 6TF".

I'm shocked, I am not getting a trainee buddy because "trainees are too expensive". I'll have to assume that either Camden don't have make budget cuts or trainees will be paid minimum wage/ have to pay for their own PSC.
