its horrible not knowing what to do. the lpc is going to cost a lot of money and if i dont get a TC at the end it will all be so horribly pointless.

I was borderline 2.1, 2.2 and personally if I had got a 2.2 I would not have pursued a legal career (I didnt at first anyway).

all depends where you want to work. If you want to work for a top firm in london or a major city then it could be a struggle depending on your uni, a levels, work experience e.t.c. But there are a lot of other firms out there on the high street who offer TC's who don't insist on 2-1's.

On the whole I agree, however there are also firms that insist on a 2:1 and solid A-Levels that can be persuaded that you are a worthwhile bet. I got a 2:2 and BCD at A-Level but have a TC with just such a firm, I start in July straight after the LPC.

cool hope for us all eh are u in a big inner city firm then bnoc? which uni did u go? did u spend an age doing applications? I know that most high street firms will consider a 2:2 only prob is doing the lpc unpaid and knowing what line of work to tailor it to with the electives or doesnt it matter too much if u do electives based on joining a commercial firm then go for a job at a high street one what do u reckon?

Paul

My firm have paid my LPC fees so that makes it much easier, even without a grant for living costs.

That I'm afraid I can't help with. However my view is that you should do what you enjoy as your much more likely to do well and will be much more convinving at interview. I could have pulled off the corporate route if I had fancied but motivation would have been a struggle as it would bore me to tears.

If I give you my story it might help. In September I will begin my TC with a county council.

My seats are Young People Services, Planning and Environment and Corporate Services (employment and PPP/PFI/CCT etc).

My electives are employment (ok that one is useful), commercial and commercial dispute resolution. I am never to use the last two but my 'commercial firm focused' electives were never brought up at any of the interviews.

As long as you don't do something stupid like 'Banking and Debt Finance' and the other corporate electives, you will pretty much be able to go where you like.
