Default training contract

hello, just wanted to get someones opinion..iv been accepted for a training contract, it was a verbal offer, but the partner is now threatening to withdraw the offer because I had to resit part of one of my classes this year, and another one on a technicality. I havent failed any exams the the whole way through school and uni before, this was a bit of a blip for me and the exam that I failed was actually quite an easy one I just had a bad day, it was more about exam technique than anything else, and that kindof thing had never happened to me before, i know i was a bit rusty at doing exams having taken a year out but they seem to be taking this as in indication of my ablility and intelligence. Although im confident ill have passed the second time round, i dont know what else I can say? any suggestions?

If you could get your personal tutor or the tutor for the module you failed to drop them a line saying you're good and just rusty on exam technique etc I'm sure that'd be helpful, remember a friend saying their tutor would do this when she thought she'd failed one.

Hope it goes alright for ya.

I'd go with the above advice. And also, if you have experience with other big firms, you may consider getting one of them to back up the fact that this was not down to your lack of ability.

By the way, the fact that the offer was made verbally doesn't really come into it. (unless they are planning to deny that any offer was actually made!)
Even if it was in writing, they usually make it subject to exam results....

IF you get over this hurdle though, make sure you formally get the offer in writing... think its a Law Society Req at some point.

Good Luck!!

Tatz.
