Default What periodicals, books and newspapers do you read?

Just need some guidance on how this question for a tc app should be completed. How could you possibly write 250 words on it?

Cheers

Sparks

Just be honest! Tell them the truth. If it were me, I'd put: journals/periodicals related to the area of law I'm interested in; broader legal journals/periodicals; financial papers; international press; fiction and books connected to my undergrad (non-law) degree. When you get to it, you'll see you can easily fill the word count!

I wouldn't just relate it to legal or other academic stuff. They want to know that you're the kind of person who has plenty of interests, after all.

Basically, don't say you read the Economist or the FT if you don't because it will come up in interview and you will look stupid if you can't back yourself up.

And never say you read the Daily Mail or Sun.

You should list the Economist and FT, because if you're going to do well at interview with a commercial firm, you should read them. List one other broad sheet paper (and read it, the website should do). Put a couple of other things to show breadth of interest - something related to your extra-curriculars. Don't feel you have to fill the 250 words - hardly anyone regularly reads enough publications for that, 250 words is just the maximum. And like subclause says, if you put something down, make sure you have actually read it recently, or you are bound to be asked about it.

DO NOT put Top Gear Magazine, Nuts, Asian Babes or Socialist Worker, even if you do actually read them. I think putting The Sun down could be quite effective, as long as there's also a couple of broadsheets there.
