Default CPS Verbal reasoning test

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know whether we can practice the verbal reasoning test on the actual CPS website?
The reason why I am asking this stupid question is that I was afraid that if I started the practice test I wouldn't be able to log out and take the real test at a later stage. Has anyone done this before?!
Thnx guys!!!!

yeah did it last year-dont worry it gives you the opportunity to do the practise test as many times as you want i think. Not much point but it lets you. Then you get the option at the end to do the real thing. I think i took mine straight after the practise, think i thought i was in the 'zone'. Passed it though so can't be too hard!
Dont panic just make sure you have no distractions.
Good luck!

Thnx Cookie84. That was very helpful.
Anyway, since you did it last year would you tell me what the "Written case study" and "Oral presentation and interview" consisted of please?!
I am so surprised there is so little info on the CPS's website about these two tests........
Thnx again, you're a star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah ok-if you get through the online tests which i'm sure you will, they aren't that hard, you go through to the assessment centre.
I went to mine at BPP in Leeds and you get a creative reasoning test which asks you various questions and you have to come up with as many answers as possible. I think they think this is a good indicator of whether or not you can 'think outside the box'! If you pass the online stuff they will send you an example of the types of questions asked. I personally didn't think that it was a good reflection cos i found the questions on the day much harder-maybe cos it was a bit more pressured though.
Then...you get given a case study-ours was a couple of witness statements relating to a child abuse charge. You then got about 3 or 4 questions which you had to answer just using the statements. they were basically evidential so you had to say what other sorts of evidence you needed etc. Then finally you had to come to a conclusion as to whether the charge was appropriate (you are given the statute). It was hard and you can see why a lot of CPS trainees are ex-police/socialwork cos i think there is a lot that you learn from experience.
Needless to say my attempt was'not up to a satisfactory standard'(lol) so i didn't get through to the next round which i believe to be an interview and advocacy test. I think someone on here got through to that stage though so owuld be worth trawling through the posts to see if she said anything about it at the time. It will have been this time last year though.
If all else fails go and work for a commercial law firm like me-apparently they're not as picky!!!!!; )

Good luck with everything let us know how you get on! will be useful for other aspiring CPS trainees aswell.

Just did my test online. Missed the last question though,,,,,,,,not enough time!!!!!!!!!!!!
However, to my surprise there was no numerical test.... UNLESS I stupidly missed it. I think that is unlikely 'cos in the end it shows as TEST COMPLETED.
It was 15 min long and there were 30 questions. Did not find it particularly easy. Timing was crucial..........
Fingers crossed?
Does anyone know after how long they send the result?
Cheers

Damien, I also completed the online verbal reasoning test, I didn't think it was hard it was more an issue with the time constraint so I ended up selecting whatever I thought was correct

I agree that the CPS website provided inadequate information regarding their recruitment process, I wonder if all applicants were offered the chance to complete the verbal reasoning test? And there wasn't a numerical test hoorar!

Anyways, best of luck to you mate

Thanks Del. I though I had messed up. Everybody had been talking about the numerical test that's why I though I had missed it out. Good luck to you too and let me know about your result. Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never ever had to do an exercise like that before so it was an experience, probably because most of my applications have simply been sending my CV off to various firms (High St)
