Default Difference in hours

What are the differences in hours of those working in a city firm and those in a regional one? I dont particularly fancy the idea of working 9-12am everyday.

Are the hours different for different areas of the law, I am interested in family, commercial or white collar crime.

Thanks

Yeah the hours will be different depending on the area of law/ the firm that you work for, some firms prefer you to do not much more than 9-5 where as others will expect you to put the hours in. You'd be best looking at it on a firm by firm basis.

I am in my corporate and commercial seat in a regional firm just outside London at the moment and am working on average 9am - 7/8pm. So not too bad. The hours vary depending on any imminent completions etc.

The other departments have shorter work hours.

I am in a Commercial Litigation seat in a regional firm and my hours are generally 8-6. I have left later and earlier on the odd occasion but 8-6 is what I usually do. I have a friend in a family seat also in a regional firm and her hours are 9-5.30 and she said she always leaves on time!

i'm in a small employment firm and i have been averaging about 45 hours a week i guess it depends on how much responsibilty you have and your cuurent caseload. In my firm its very much roll up your sleeves and get on with it, we all try to muck in (managing partners as well) and u do what needs doin'

not always fun for a social life but great experience

I'm doing my training contract in a family firm and every single person here leaves the office by 5.30PM. We all choose whether to work 9AM to 5.30PM or 8.30AM to 5 PM. We are never asked to work outside this. Really depends where you train as not all firms expect you to work twelve hour days
