Default MANCHESTER!!!

Hey,

I need advice from any of you that know Manchester. Basically, I need to be in Manchester on monday morning. I need to get to Fountain Street. Im getting the train from Leeds, but im not sure which would be the best station in Manchester to get off at. There seems to be a few stations.

Any tips would be most welcome!

Thanks

I think if you head towards Primark, then fountain street is very near there (i believe). Sad that that is my landmark but its a tall building so you can see it from far away! manchester piccadilly and victoria are both about a similar distance away but victoria is probably a touch nearer and is probably the station youd come in from from leeds anyway. if you get lost just ask someone, i am always getting lost in manchester city centre and someone always points me in the right direction.
if you end up getting the train to picadilly, then exit the station on the main floor exit (ie dont go down any escalators) and turn right. walk straight down that road for about 10 -15 minutes and eventually you will get to debenhams and primark and fountain street should be down there somewhere.
im not sure of the directions from victoria because i generally use picadilly now.
I apologise if im wrong, but give yourself plenty of time is all i can say!

Vicky,

Don't worry - This one is easy. Get off at Piccadilly Station (Main Station in Manchester), then either walk down towards Piccadilly Gardens (5 minute walk), and Fountain Street is 5 minutes away (Check Google maps, Fountain Street, M2, Manchester).
Or: When you get in at Manchester Piccadilly, get the tram (metrolink) down to Piccadilly Gardens/High Street and walk from there to Fountain Street (5 minute walk, if that, and if you have a train ticket with destination "manchester stations" you can use the tram within the city centre boundary (this includes the Piccadilly Gardens stop) free of charge.
Or: When you get to Manchester Piccadilly, leave via Main exit/entrance and there should be 2 or 3 Free buses which take you in and around teh city centre, I think one of these stops near Fountain Street.

If you need to, you could also get off at Victoria Station, which is slightly further away - about 10 minutes walk through city centre to Fountain Street.

Avoid Oxford Road Station/Deansgate Station - these are further out and could be a bit complicated if you don't know Manchester very well.

Nb. Both Victoria Station and Manchester Piccadilly are served by the Metrolink, which if you have a train ticket with destination Manchester Stations as already mentioned, should mean you can travel free of charge within city centre limits.

Hope that helps. Plenty of Starbucks in the area to while away the time/practise your interview before hand!!

Good Luck.

Tatz.

Yeah this place is flooded with Starbucks! We've even got a subsidised one in our staff restaurant! I swear their company vision must be "You should never have to walk more than 10 metres to find one."

Good luck for your interview.
