Typical hours of a trainee?

What are they in london for example...for a mid size commercial law firm?

Most of the firms I applied to were mid-sized commercial in London, and although I'm not starting my training contract until 2007, most of the trainees I spoke to while at interviews said their hours are quite bearable: usually 9 to 5:30 or 6pm, but then they would be expected to stay late, eg to 9pm if there was a big deal on. This had happened just a handful of times to the people I spoke to, and none of them had done all-nighters. I was pleasantly reassured but will have to see if it's true when I start work.
