There is no need to do more than your college has told you - they should have given you some idea what to read. If not, I wouldn't bother reading anything. You have got a long year of study and should give your brain a break. The LPC, as I found it, had very little to do with hard legal principles and more to do with practicality and box-ticking.

If you REALLY can't resist, get a head start on the LPC manuals (should be in the college library). But I would just look at what the college specifies and enjoy your summer.

Updated: CoL didn't require any pre-reading. They had some refresher materials on the Internet/Intranet. Most of them assumed familiarity with principles established in caselaw, so a quick brush up on the relevant cases they hint at/refer to does the trick nicely.

I'm going to be continuing part-time as a litigation paralegal whilst doing the LPC+. Only 20 hours per week and with the available resources should help rather than hinder my study.

Cheers guys - definitely getting the LPC Companion on 01 September too.

I'm studying at CoL Chester - they're providing all textbooks it seems.

Buying any other books is a waste of time and money. You've already shelled out ?8,500.00 why spend more money on textbooks!

CoL provides all the books you will need for the LPC and they don't allow outside textbooks in to exams.
