Job ID: D3A64308-895D-47AF-89E8-0BED07C0E6C7 Role Purpose/Accountabilities
. Assist patent attorneys in carrying out legal aspects of business. Paralegal/Legal Assistant is responsible for support functions concerning U.S. and foreign Crop Protection patent files handled in Greensboro.
. Review and docket incoming correspondence and documentation from USPTO concerning U.S. patent applications, and incoming correspondence from foreign associates concerning foreign patent applications and/or patents forward to attorney for review.
. Prepare and file all documents required for filing and prosecuting US, International and foreign patent applications.
. Format, finalize and forward correspondence from attorney to foreign associates concerning instructions, amendments, etc.

. Prepare and coordinate execution of Declarations and/or Assignments for signature by inventors, as required, in both U.S. and foreign applications for Greensboro attorneys and Basel/Jealott's Hill IP Administrators.

. Report documentation filed and received from USPTO to Basel/Jealott's Hill.

. Work with outside counsel regarding outsourcing of response to office actions for certain US patent files.

. Assist with special projects and other assignments as requested by the attorneys and agents

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
. Bachelors Degree and Paralegal Certification a plus
. 5+ years experience in the IP field and stable work history is essential
. Experience with patent prosecution is a must
. Familiarity and experience with patent docket administration and patent docketing databases is a must
. Excellent organizational and communication skills
. Must be analytical, detail oriented, able to work independently, exercise sound judgment and problem solving, multi-task, and work well under pressure in a team environment
. Ability to maintain confidential information in an appropriate, professional manner is critical
. Demonstrated commitment and track record of providing excellent service
. Experience and proficiency in database management and software proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required
. Has ability to exercise good judgment and discretion and to handle a demanding case load
