Default IP Law: Advise!

Hi There,

I am a Chemistry (Hons) grad looking to get into IP law in London (currently living in Ireland). I am new to this subject so any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

i) From what I understand I do not need a law qualification to get into IP law and I need to find a company that will train me, is this realistic?

ii) If I do go to Uni to get a qualification which course would be more beneficial to me a LLB or LLM (LLM in IP Law) to get a training contract?

iii) Do I need to qualify as a solicitor to work in a Law firm?

i) No but it will be very hard to find a paralegal role in IP with no experience.

ii) Do the GDL to convert your BSC into an LLB and then do the LPC.

iii) No you can work a a clerk or paralegal IF you can find a job.

You can become a Patent Agent / Attorney without qualifying as a solicitor.
